Arsenal have reportedly secured a deal to sign Real Sociedad’s standout midfielder, Martin Zubimendi, this summer.
The 24-year-old Spanish international has a £51 million release clause in his contract, which the Gunners are set to trigger after holding long-term interest in the player.
Zubimendi had previously turned down a move to Liverpool last summer, instead opting to stay with Sociedad. However, it seems he is now ready for a new challenge, with Arsenal looking to bolster their midfield as Thomas Partey and Jorginho approach the end of their contracts.
According to Marca Radio, as reported by Sport Witness, Zubimendi is “on his way to Arsenal,” with the London club beating competition from Real Madrid, who were rumored to be interested in hijacking the deal.
