Rasmus Højlund has sparked social media controversy by appearing to take a direct jab at Manchester United following Napoli’s Supercoppa Italiana victory. After helping Antonio Conte’s side secure a 2-0 win over Bologna in Riyadh, the Danish striker posted a celebratory image with the trophy captioned: “What a great decision looks like.”

The 22-year-old forward, currently on loan from Old Trafford, played the full 90 minutes alongside fellow United exile Scott McTominay. While both have flourished in Italy, Højlund’s pointed remark highlights a growing rift with his parent club, where he struggled to find consistent form under the tactical shifts of Rúben Amorim.
Højlund has already racked up seven goals and three assists in 19 appearances for the Partenopei, a stark contrast to his frustrating final months in Manchester. His departure paved the way for the £73.7 million arrival of Benjamin Šeško, who has faced similar service issues and managed only two goals so far.
The contrast in fortunes between the thriving loanees in Naples and the struggling frontline at Old Trafford adds further pressure to the United hierarchy. As Napoli celebrates their first piece of silverware this season, Højlund’s “great decision” seems to be paying dividends on and off the pitch.
