Liverpool and Aston Villa clash rescheduled after Villa reach Europa League final

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have rewritten the history books by reaching their first major European final in 44 years, a feat that has triggered a significant shift in the Premier League schedule.

Liverpool and Aston Villa clash rescheduled after Villa reach Europa League final

After overturning a first-leg deficit to crush Nottingham Forest 4-0 at Villa Park, the Villans are set to face Bundesliga outfit Freiburg in the Europa League final on May 20 in Istanbul.

To accommodate Villa’s historic trip to the Beşiktaş Stadium, the Premier League has moved Liverpool’s visit to Birmingham forward to Friday, May 15, at 8:00 PM, airing live on Sky Sports.

This rescheduling places intense pressure on both sides as they battle for Champions League qualification, with Liverpool currently holding a slender advantage over Villa in the top-four race.

The fixture also marks one of the final competitive outings for Reds icons Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson, who have both confirmed they will depart Anfield at the end of the season.

With Robertson and Salah having spent nine trophy-laden years on Merseyside, the rearranged Friday night clash serves as a crucial prelude to their emotional farewell against Brentford on May 24.
