Inter Milan secure 21st title at San Siro

Inter Milan were crowned Serie A champions for the 21st time on Sunday following a decisive 2-0 victory over Parma at a sun-drenched San Siro.

Goals from Marcus Thuram and veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan secured the three points, extending Inter’s lead to an unassailable 12 points over second-placed Napoli with just three matches remaining.

The triumph marks a remarkable redemption for the club under the guidance of Cristian Chivu, who was a surprise appointment last summer following the departure of Simone Inzaghi to Saudi Arabia.

Chivu, a legendary figure from the club’s 2010 Treble-winning side, has transformed a squad that was reeling from a 5-0 Champions League final defeat and a title collapse just one year ago.

“This is for the fans who never left us,” captain Lautaro Martínez remarked during the trophy celebrations, which saw thousands gather at Milan’s iconic Duomo cathedral.

Inter have been the model of consistency this term, losing only twice in the league while boasting the division’s most lethal attack and a defense that has kept 18 clean sheets.

The “Nerazzurri” now turn their attention to a potential domestic double, as they prepare to face Lazio in the Coppa Italia final in ten days’ time.

With the Scudetto secured, the club is reportedly set to offer Chivu a long-term contract extension to lead a youthful rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
