Joan Laporta has secured a resounding second term as Barcelona president, defeating challenger Víctor Font in a landslide victory on Sunday.

The 63-year-old garnered 32,934 votes – nearly 70% of the total—marking one of the most significant mandates in the club’s history. Flanked by his board at the Spotify Camp Nou, a defiant Laporta declared the result makes the club “unstoppable,” promising that the best years in Barcelona’s history are yet to come.
The election coincided with a spectacular on-field performance, as Hansi Flick’s side dismantled Sevilla 5-2 to maintain their lead at the top of La Liga. Raphinha was the architect of the victory, netting a clinical hat-trick, while João Cancelo and Dani Olmo added gloss to a night of dual celebrations. Flick, along with senior figures like Deco and various first-team players, cast their ballots shortly after the final whistle, underscoring the institutional unity currently felt at the club.
Laporta used his victory speech to pay a special tribute to Flick, whose attacking philosophy has revitalized the team since his arrival. With the president now committed to the club until 2031 and Flick recently extending his own stay until 2027, the hierarchy has stabilized during a critical period of the Camp Nou’s renovation.
As the “Spider” Julián Álvarez continues to be linked with the club, Laporta’s renewed strength at the ballot box provides the political leverage needed to navigate the upcoming summer transfer window.
